Did you know?
20-30% of clean water is being used for toilet flushing. Such a natural precious water is wasted for this activity. So, what is the alternative?
Treated Sewage Water it is!
Now, why do I have to invest a minimum Rs. 1 lakh ($1500) in Sewage Treatment Plant in my home/apartment?
- The water usage is completely free (unlike Water supplied by Civic body, expensive water tankers during water crisis etc). Return on Investment (ROI) is about 1-4 years depending on the no.of houses and usage.
- Civic bodies do have STPs for the city. With increase in population, either STPs are not sufficient or dysfunctional. So, they discharge raw sewage into rivers – thereby polluting it and creating ecological imbalance (affecting marine life, making it unfit for usage and prone to diseases)
- Before government makes it mandatory – as responsible citizens we can implement this initiative and preserve nature
Tips before implementing STP at your premises:
- Prefer a compact STP that has no electrical requirements, no moving parts and no chemicals involved to treat sewage water. This makes it noiseless and your operational costs almost free (apart from removing sludge after every 2 years or pumping the treated water to a separately installed overhead tanks). Key vendors who provide this feature are
BioRock India
,EcoSTP
- A STP can be installed:
- Underground –
- Needs to be away from building’s foundation and trees
- If you don’t have space above ground
- Above ground –
- If you cannot dig in an existing building
- Easy to install and operator-friendly
- Underground –
- Install a separate overhead tank in your premises, solely for flushing toilets or watering plants
- Do check with your vendors on the Sewage outflow, recycle rate & treated water usage. This has to be seamless to avoid overflow or underflow.
On implementing all the 5 steps
at your home / apartment, be proud to have been part of this Water Conservation and set an example for others to follow! Moreover, you have secured your future to be water surplus forever!
